Program Overview

The mission of the 博西尔教区社区学院 药学技术人员 program is to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a certified pharmacy technician under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in various types of pharmacies.

The BPCC 药学技术人员 Program offers both an Associate degree and a Certificate of Technical Studies in 药学技术人员.  学生可在秋季(8月)学期入学. College ready students can complete the Certificate of Technical Studies in three semesters and the Associate of Applied Science in four semesters.  Students completing the Certificate level program are eligible to return to BPCC to complete the Associate degree in the future.

课程完成政策

Students may earn a Certificate of Technical Studies in 药学技术人员 or an Associate of Applied Science in 药学技术人员 at 博西尔教区社区学院.  为了完成课程, 学生必须年满18岁, 满足项目的所有教育目标和目的, and show a consistently high level of technician candidate practice during clinical rotations at pharmacies.  Students must earn a grade of “C” or higher in all required courses and have completed all required evaluations and certifications.  Students are required to complete 400 hours of experiential (clinical) work at assigned pharmacies and submit documentation of completion.  Students must meet all graduation requirements set forth by 博西尔教区社区学院 and the American Society of Health System Pharmacist (ASHP).  成功完成课程后, a graduate is eligible to take the 药学技师认证考试(PTCE) given by 药学技术人员 Certification Board (PTCB).

The BPCC 药学技术人员 Program is not affiliated with the 路易斯安那州药事委员会, 但遵守所有适用于药房的法律法规. Therefore, requirements set forth by the Board must be met in order for a student to obtain a “药学技术人员 Candidate Registration”. The following are examples of some of the requirements for a 药学技术人员 Candidate Certification from the 路易斯安那州药事委员会 (LABP). It is recommended that students verify they have met all 路易斯安那州药事委员会 requirements by visiting www.pharmacy.la.gov.

Students should be aware that a positive background check or drug/alcohol screening, 由学院或临床附属机构进行, 或者免疫状况, may have a negative impact on the applicant’s future employability as a 药学技术人员.

Total Program Cost

学费由学生自理, fees, books, uniforms, fingerprinting, required exams, supplies, and vaccinations/laboratory tests associated with completion of the 药学技术人员 Program. A clinical fee is charged in addition to regular tuition for each program with a clinical component. 该费用在学生被安排在PHAR 151的学期中需要支付.
